Got out early Friday morning with Captain Eugene for a Quick Look around some shallow water structure near Dana point harbor. Water was very clean and not much current while fishing around the slack low tide. Worked hard for just a few bites this morning as the calico bass didn’t seem to be actively feeding. Eugene caught a few fish on the Alabama rig while I stuck it out with the larger hardbait looking for a big bite. Big bite of the morning ended up coming to Eugene for sticking it out with the rig. All in all a slow morning.
Headed back out in the afternoon and fished in to the evening with my son Wyatt and a good friend’s son Wyatt as well. Both Wyatt’s worked hard all week for the opportunity to fish so the pressure was on. We worked zones that have been productive but 20+ ft if visibility and not much bait in the area made things tuff. Worked in shallower found some dirty water and got a nice little bite for the end of the evening. Bites were on big hard bait and large swimbaits in about 8ft of water with only a foot or so of visibility.
