Morning report 09/20

Worked shallow (8-15ft) all morning for just a couple bites on the spinnerbait and swimbait. Fishing was slow and after about a hour and a half into it we decided to try our luck on a spot with live bait. Anchored up and immediately realized what we were working with. Uphill current vs the west wind swung our boat off the spot pretty quickly. A few bites before our anchor job was a complete waste. We opted to drift the spot and got on a slow steady pick at calico, sand bass, and bonito. That bite slowed so we decided to change it up and drift a new area 20-40ft with scattered kelp stringers. Slid in and instantly got going on square a bill bite. Multiple fish with groups of followers behind them. Picked away and finally connected with a good one. All and all pretty slow morning but ended on a high note.
